Nest Updates and Training

Catholic University's organization management system, The Nest, will be experiencing interface upgrades beginning July 5, 2017. These upgrades will change the look of organization Nest pages, add additional features, and become more mobile friendly. If you manage any part of your organization, department, school, office, or intitiative's Nest page please try to attend a training explaining the upgrades and how it will affect user capabilities. Training dates, times, and locations are listed below.

Student Organization Happy Hours of Training

This one hour of training is available for all student organization members to attend, although it is only required for 2 members of each organization. The session will be a crash course in the resources to help student organizations be successful as well as a chance to update groups about changes in OCA.

Any student organization that does not complete the attendance requirement will not be active for the Fall 2016 semester.

This is also where student organizations will sign up for a table at the Fall Fiesta Student Involvement Fair (held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017).

This session is being offered 12 different times! Each training will last one hour. Everyone who needs to attend should be able to make at least one of these opportunities!

 

Risk Management Training

This training is required for all groups with closed membership or selection processes but is open to all student organizations. The training will cover the topics of hazing, travel, injury, liability and how it applies to your organization.

The risk management training will be offered two times in Pryzbyla Room 321 by Dean Heidi Zeich, Associate Dean of Students.

Other Training Opportunities

Student Organization Management Outreach Program - The Outreach Program is designed to go in depth regarding the frequently asked questions from student organizations in regards to specific topics. A Student Organization Management team member will come to your organization's general meeting, executive board meeting, special session, etc. to present the information specifically tailored for your group. Training topics include:

  • Building Mission & Excitement - Reflect with your group on your organization's purpose and together find a way to build a strong mission with excitement.
  • Event Planning - Talk through event ideas your organization may have and learn the tips and tricks to host a successful event.
  • Finances & Funding - Dive into more depth about the funding request process and the finance tab on The Nest as well as brainstorm effective ways to raise money for your org. 
  • Recruitment & Renention - Learn creative ways to get new members interested and engaged in your organization as well as create a fun atmosphere for everyone.
  • Team Unity - Learn your member's strengths, goals, and interests as well as how to collectively work as a team.

Peer Educators Empowering Respectful Students (PEERS) Workshop Offerings - PEERS is CUA's only peer education group that educations students on alcohol and other drug use and abuse, mental health awareness, sexual assault and violence, and ethical decision making.
